– Vintage 2008 –
Fine fruit aromas and their elegance
The 2008 vintage was one that demanded the utmost from the winegrower. On the 7th of July, a hailstorm basically tripled the amount of work necessary to care for the foliage and the clusters. Grapes that were struck by hailstones had to be cut off or plucked out by hand. Also July was very sparing with heat, while uncommonly generous in terms of rain; this led to the worst fungal infections of the last 50 years. A great deal of work had to be done by hand in order to keep the canopies in a healthy condition. A good August and a very lovely Autumn allowed the remaining clusters to attain significant ripeness. The 2008 white wines are impressive for their fine fruit aromas and their elegance. The red wines as well offer elegance and spice along with the charm of early accessibility.
