– Ried Tatschler –
The single vineyard Tatschler, early records of which date back to 1570, is located in a wind-protected basin east of Großhöflein. Due to its southeast exposure, the vines are pampered by the sun already in the morning. This ensures early warming and rapid drying of the berries as well as long grape hang-times in fall without the risk of affliction by noble rot.
The wood flanking the Tatschler vineyard on top brings cooler air to the vineyard in the early evening, thus preserving a fruity acidity. The area under vine stretches from 200 to 250 meters above sea level and is only 12,1 hectar small. Our estates vineyards are covering 2,99 hectar.
The single vineyard Tatschler boasts crystalline primary rock soil, which constitutes the core of the Leithagebirge. With shallow limestone on top, it lays the foundation for the mighty Chardonnay from the House of Kollwentz.
Because it’s not only the inner values that count.
