– Ried Setz –
The single vineyard Setz, was first mentioned in documents in 1569 as “Krapflried”. It borders the Grosshöflein vineyard sites in the direction to Kleinhöflein. Located south of the single vineyard Tatschler and the road to Kleinhöflein, a part of the town Eisenstadt, the southeast facing Setz enjoys plenty of sunshine from early morning till late in the afternoon.
The soil’s high content of limestone in the part near to Grosshöflein allows the Blaufränkisch grapes to ripen fully. The last fifteen vineyards from Kleinhöflein with low limestone content perfectly matches with Cabernet Sauvignon. The heights of the Leithagebirge protect the Setz from wind and enable the 15,35 hectar small sites hot mesoclimate. 4,9 hectares of the Ried Setz are owned by the Kollwentz estate.
Because it’s not only the inner values that count.
