Eichkogel is a blend of Grosshöflein’s traditional varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt. Influenced by Burgenland’s Pannonian climate, the grapes ripen to full maturity on the southerly slopes of the Leithagebirge. Aged in small oak barrels, Eichkogel unites the spicy berry fruit of Blaufränkisch with the velvetiness of Zweigelt. Eichkogel matches excellently with hearty meat dishes such as lamb and steak. Younger vintages should be opened or decanted a few hours before drinking.
