– Vintage 2004 –

2004 was a winegrower’s vintage. There were variations of ripeness and quality in the vineyards like we’ve never seen before. Extremely conscientious attention to the vines—and above all a stringent reduction in the number of bunches in this admittedly rather challenging year was repaid with wine of the highest quality! Our vineyards were recognisable from a distance by the tall canopies, the carefully trimmed foliage and the extreme ripeness of those few grapes which remained hanging. The 2004 white wines are all impressive for their extremely ripe and varietally typical fruit, finesse and elegance. Among the red wines, again we find in 2004 a vintage with enormous breadth of aromaticity, clear-cut tannins and powerful body—this is a result of rigorous selections made first in the vineyard, and then once more in the cellar. The 2004 vintage shows a significant resemblance to the spicy and long-lived 1999s.
