– Vintage 2024 –

Vegetation in 2024 began early, faciliteted by mild temperatures in March and April. Fortunately, there was no late frost, and the precipitation fell as steady rain, thus also penetrating deep into the soil layers. The green cover was able to fully develop and subsequently contributed to good humus formation. The grape blossom began in mid-May and was completed before the end of May, indicating an early harvest.
The water supply of the vines was also optimal, so the vines did not suffer drought stress during the very warm and dry phase of summer. The grapes began to change color early, and we began harvesting with Pinot Noir on August 27. We were able to harvest healthy, fully ripe grapes with good acidity levels in the first half of the harvest.
On September 12, a bad weather front reached Burgenland, and 138 liters of rain fell within a few days. Cool temperatures and strong winds brought the desired drying and consequently ensured the health of the berries. Similar to 2006, we started the harvest a second time after a week’s break and were able to harvest the late-ripening Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon under optimal conditions.
Finally, the morning fog and sunny afternoons that followed the main harvest gave us two fine sweet wines – a Chardonnay Auslese and a Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese.
