Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent are the red wine varieties with which Austria is currently celebrating its greatest successes.

In the red cuvées of the country, especially the Zweigelt is omnipresent. Compared to the long-time immigrated French varieties – especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but also Syrah, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc -, the Zweigelt again and again proves itself as an ideal blending partner.

Even though the soloists among the Austrian red wines are now gaining greater attention, the cuvées of the country can still be great and easily take on top international top performers.
