Sauvignon Blanc Sample
24 Aug 2011 – Tastings
No other white grape variety has experienced a similar boom in the last couple of years than Sauvignon Blanc.
With its distinctive aroma, which differs according to the degree of ripeness between cassis and gooseberries, grass and passion fruit, it worked its way into the hearts of wine drinkers. And it is now rooted in almost all countries of the vast wine world.
The German magazine Weinwelt certainly organized the most extensive tasting on German soil – with 531 samples.
213 German Sauvignons, 55 French, 59 New Zealanders and 52 Austrians were in the competition. The most outstanding origin of the tasting was Austria and especially Styria. The entire Top-Ten was coming from Austria. In the middle of the Styrian phalanx, the wines of the estate Kollwentz with Sauvignon Blanc Steinmühle and the Methusalemreben shone on positions 3 and 5.
