Hiking the Rieden on the weekend

Sorry to all of you who couldn’t join… 

But here is a report about the already seventh Riedenwanderung:

Right on time at 3:45 pm we started walking off the winery. First, we went to the vineyard in the Ried Haussatz with the table grapes and Blaufränkisch, which we tasted on the spot. From there on we walked to the Zweigelt am Neusatz and then along the Pointsteig past Edelhof, Badhaus and church, heading east to the Blaufränkisch on the Setz. From there it was only a short distance to the Chardonnay in the Ried Tatschler. Then we went steeply uphill into the high-altitude Ried Dürr to our Pinot Noir and finally to the final destination of the hike, the Riede Gloria, the highest vineyard location of northern Burgenland. A small snack and a tasting of the wines from the Rieden were the reward for the brave hikers.
