Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc
Due to the plurality of sites and soils predestined to cultivate Chardonnay, the whites are naturally dominated by this varietal (Tatschler, Gloria, Katterstein, Neusatz).
Chardonnay has been grown on the slopes of the Leithagebirge for almost 900 years. The Cistercian monks brought Chardonnay vines from Burgundy around 1150. Everywhere in the world where Chardonnay yields wines of superior quality, you will find limy soils. Thus, the Leithagebirge is in good company with the Champagne, the Chablis and the Côte d´Or (Burgundy).
The winery's Sauvignon blanc is planted in only one vineyard site, the Steinmühle with its quartz gravel.
